This sculpture was commissioned in 2002 by Susan Farrel, artcrimes owner (graffiti.org). I’ve projected it with Autocad (PC program) and I’ve decided to realize it using cellulose acetate that is the material used to produce sunglasses. I’ve learnt how to use it during the period in which I was working at Sàfilo (Italian sunglasses producer). My Autocad project has helped me distinguishing all the different-shaped pieces of acetate cellulose which composed my sculpture. I have then drawn some orthogo- nal projection to exactly understand which shape I had to cut out from the cellulose acetate plate. All the different-shaped pieces I’ve used had a 8 mm depth. The cut out process and the modelling one have all been manually executed, using professional tools such as hack- saw and file. I have then divided all of them (some hundreds) in three co- lour typologies: the black ones, the white ones and the tran- sparent ones and I have stuck them together using acetone. I’ve also painted my sculpture with white paint, afterwards removed, to take some pictures of it under coloured lights.
